Hello! Project’s “Hello Cover” Songs Announced

According to a recent video uploaded on the UFA Youtube channel, various Hello! Project members will be releasing covers of popular H!P songs in a series called Hello Cover online.

Each H!P member will cover nine solo songs, the first being Kamei Eri who will cover these songs:

  • Manatsu no Kousen / Morning Musume
  • Furusato / Morning Musume
  • Koi wo Shichai Mashita / Tanpopo
  • Seinaru Kane ga Hibiku Yoru / Tanpopo
  • Egao ni Namida ~THANK YOU! DEAR MY FRIENDS~ / Matsuura Aya
  • LOVE Namida Iro / Matsuura Aya
  • Koi no Hana / Abe Natsumi
  • Onegai Miwaku no Target / Melon Kinenbi
  • Kousui / Melon Kinenbi

It’s somewhat surprising to see that they have started to release covers of H!P songs on iTunes since we usually only got to see formal releases, although it doesn’t seem that surprising once you think about it since it most likely has something to do with Chisato’s release of Love Namida Iro on iTunes a few weeks before (which apparently did very well).

What does surprise me is that they will cover 9 songs each since it seems like a great way for fans to enjoy some exclusive tracks of each member singing some H!P classics, and since they are solo songs it gives each member a chance to shine.

Kamei is the first member to go, which is understandable since her graduation is only a few weeks away, and I have to admit that her list of songs seems interesting since there are many songs from other great groups from H!P such as Tanpopo, Momusu, Ayaya, Abe, and Melon Kinenbi.

Hopefully fans buy her songs when they are released since it seems like a great way to support her.

The song will be released on 12/8.

    LOL. Everyone’s talking about how they don’t think Ai, Reina, Miyabi, Risako, Momoko, Airi, and Maimi should have cover songs, and all, but you guys do realize that Momoko and Miyabi haven’t even had recorded solo songs yet (They’ve had concert solos, but that’s all.. They haven’t gotten recorded solos yet)… Out of all the promoted members you guys have listed… They are the only ones who have never had a recorded solo (all the other ones have =P)… So, I think it’s kinda fair that they be given they’re FIRST recorded solo song (not just concert solo)… :D

    No comment on the JunLin. xD

      I listed those that have the largest amount to shine in the majority of songs released for their groups. Eg. Miya and Momo have at least a quarter or third of Berryz’s A-tracks (the ones with more promotion), on average. Heck, 100Gag is practically a Momo solo! XD
      I didn’t list them (Miya and Momo) as the ones I’d be most disappointed with, but did list them as an example of what I consider “popular”… (orz, I fail at explanations, sorry)

      But I still don’t think they should receive the solos, only because their fanbases are huge already and don’t need this sort of promotion. If they do get to do this, then fine. I just won’t be, “OMG–YES!” over this (I’m fine with their voices; especially Momo’s non-”cute” voice) and only more nervous that the less-popular members won’t get this chance. XD

    I agree with michi. I love Eri’s voice and I’m totally excited that she’ll get to release a bunch of covers (especially since she didn’t get all that many lines in her last single or album), but I still would have prefered LinLin or JunJun. Especially JunJun. She’s the only Morning Musume member that hasn’t gotten a solo song yet. Even LinLin got one (and she deserves ANOTHER one). I really like JunJun’s voice, and there aren’t a lot of songs where she gets to sing (more than just a word or two).

    But still, I can’t wait to hear the covers! I hope Gaki gets to release some covers, too. She hasn’t gotten many lines in the singles/songs lately (or at least, not as many as Ai, Reina, or Eri).

    Though I like Erin, I’d still prefer to have Lin go [first]. In the meantime, I’m totally gonna hope Lin gets to participate in this; she has one of the best voices, after all. Though, that doesn’t seem likely (same for Jun)… Q_Q

    And, despite my better judgment, I shall hope that the popular members aren’t going to participate in this–at least not be the majority of participants! Since they, well, already have plenty of time to shine. Eg: Aichan, Reina, Miya, Risako, Momo, Airi, Maimi… yeah, at least Erin has the whole “I’m graduating in a week-or-so” going on. =P

    orz, now I’ll be disappointed when the members I listed [above] get their covers. Especially Aichan, Reina, Risako, and Airi (I feel they have the largest time to shine in every song). XD
    (However, if Momo does participate, I’ll be fine with it if she doesn’t use her “cute” voice; her non-”cute” voice is so full of win and prettiness and such! Again, I am so going against my better judgment, in all this hoping…)

      i totally agree with you! i hope hope HOPE they push the less shining members… For me Ai, Reina, Miya, Risako, Momo, Airi and Maimi shouldn’t have a cover since they do get more center than anyone else…

      I do hope Junjun and Linlin get a cover too, they are graduating with Eri and they haven’t even had a solo pb yet so they should get a solo cover…

    i’m sure everyone who will participate in the cover can thank chisato for hello cover. I’m pretty sure the love namida iro cover that is included is chisato’s cover from earlier… i wonder what song kamei will sing though, i never really liked any of these songs but we’ll see.
