Hagiwara Mai recently announced on her Ustream show that she will be releasing a special dance MV for her solo song on C-ute’s 7th album titled Ike! Genki-kun, and it was just uploaded on C-ute’s official YouTube channel.
The MV isn’t much of a “dance” MV as Mai herself describes it, but to think that Mai herself exposed this idea and received a positive response from UFA is great news since we got to see a very sweet MV of Mai singing along to her solo song on the album, and I won’t hide that it really looks as a real PV with many shots in different places, and I still can’t believe that this was set up so fast.
In the PV, we get to hear a clear preview of Mai’s solo which seems to be a very happy and energetic song with many generic sounds and additions like the YEAH, Come on, etc… and even though this song isn’t very catchy, I have to admit that Maimai’s unique voice really fits well since it gives off a fresh vibe to the song and makes it very special, and the MV helps a lot to relate to the song since Mai is looking as cute as ever while posing in various places and doing various cute things.
The main scene is the close-up scene of Maimai standing before a beach in her first outfit for this PV which consists of a blouse, a ruffled skirt and a long coat, and apart from that, we get to see her either walking on a road, sitting on stairs, or even running through different parts of a city, and there are some very cute additions too like a scene where drawn tears are shown on her face or where many shots are displayed one after the other displaying a thumbs up sign, a high-five sign, etc, or where she runs on the beach while the second verse starts off with Mai in a different outfit which is a shiny pink sweater and some shorts playing guitar next to a marina with various camera angles surrounding her.
Overall, I find the idea pretty interesting since we never got something like this before for a solo song of one member, so hopefully this will lead to Nakky and Chisa doing the same for their respective solo songs since it will be a great way to promote the album and the girls at the same time.
The release date is set for 2/8.
