The covers for Mano Erina’s double a-side single titled Doki Doki Baby / Tasogare Kousaten have been released.
It has been some time since we last saw the LQ covers from the H!P site, and from what we could tell the covers were somewhat interesting since they had a bright colorful painted look to them. The only problem was that it was hard to tell exactly what they looked like since the effects were a bit hard to tell, but thankfully Amazon has released the HQ covers and they look amazing.
Seeing the theme for the Regular and Limited A covers was pretty impressive, mostly because I couldn’t imagine them using a painted canvas look. Mano fans will be happy to see that they decided to use this method since it really makes Mano look like a work of art, with her dress having the same look as the background.
It was probably done with Mano wearing a white dress in front of a green screen, but the effect is really well done and very impressive, since it’s hard to tell what parts of the painting are actually real (I thought the hat was real but it looks painted, although it’s probably just an effect).
There are many differences between the two covers, despite their similar theme. The biggest of them is the hat, but apart from that and the title color I really liked the addition of the close-up and the flowers on the Limited A cover. The clouds covering some parts of Mano were also a nice touch since it blends Mano even more into the painting.
The other cover that has that look would be the Limited C cover, since it has a yellow ring around the background with Mano leaning out of it. From my few art classes I can tell that it looks similar to some of the paintings I saw, with the yellow giving good contrast and giving it a old scenery look.
The only cover to not feature a painting theme is Limited B, and while it might not be that notable it does have a slight paper look to it, but with three pictures of Mano posing on a roof with a white jacket. It basically follows a simple line: Mano looking into the sky, Mano notices us, Mano smiles, and while it might not have the same painting look, I really liked it since the paper borders give it a scrapbook look and with the pencil look that the title has it really makes it more unique.
The Single V cover was also released:
As you can tell the cover is nothing like the others with only four pictures repeated in a ribbon or film reel look. It seems that three of the pictures (the ones with black backgrounds) are from an event, with the middle large picture being a new picture. I really liked the picture since it shows how gorgeous Mano is, and with the flowers around the border and her rose in hand it’s one of the best photos of her I have seen.
Sadly that’s the only thing I liked from the cover since the other pictures are a bit hard to see, but I liked how they left a space for the title of the release.
From the covers we got to see I can’t really pick a favorite since they all have an amazing look that’s unique from among the newest H!P releases. The effect will probably not be liked by everyone but I loved how they mixed in the painting look with Mano and made her a work of art. The Limited B cover doesn’t have the same theme but the paper look is still present and is a perfect edition for those who don’t really like the painting theme.
In short: I loved the covers, and I highly recommend everyone get a copy since it’s an amazing release. Two a-sides, painting look on the cover, and with contrasting theme in the songs make the single a must have for all Mano fans.
Hopefully everyone can check out the covers since the covers look amazing!
The release date for the singles is set for 2/22, and the release date for the Single V is set for 2/29.
