The full MV for S/mileage’s 10th single titled Dot Bikini has been released.
With summer themed covers I expected to see a MV theme that matched that style, and not surprisingly the entire video has that, from start to finish. Bright colorful drawings and animations, a fun dance that has catchy moves, as well as the usual S/mileage shot where all of the members have fun, every second of the video was amazing and well worthy of being called MV for this single.
This is actually the first time I’ve heard the song so I was pleasantly surprised to hear how upbeat it is. I could definitely see how the outfits and the title matched up well since the sounds and effects from the instrumental as well as the cute vocals really brought to mind a summer beach and having fun with friends. It did remind me of some Jamaican styled songs (I also thought of some soccer video games from the 90′s for some reason), which is probably what Tsunku intended since the sounds definitely bring to mind summer and fun.
That being said the video has too many shots to mention, like most S/mileage videos. There are many great shots that I liked such as the dance shot, the usual group shot of them having fun, individual close-up shots of them with summer animations, group shot of them against a wall singing with a rainbow animation over them, close-up shots of them singing, among many, many more.
The best shot for me would probably have to be the one where each member is interacting with animations since it was a cute addition to the PV to show how light hearted and fun the song is. Apart from that the shot of them having fun as a group (I call them “S/mileage shots”) was among the best, since every member did something funny, like Akari when she had the hat on and she started posing in a cool way.
The dance is probably the most important part of the video since we get a pretty upbeat and happy dance that starts with the members taking off the large white covers revealing the outfits for the single. This was probably the best part since it set the mood for the video, and with the happy moves as well as the summer themed set the shot was probably among the favorite for most.
I can say without a doubt that this single and MV will be among my favorites for this group since it was overall among the best released from the group, and while the song is a bit simple I have to admit that I really enjoyed every second. The animations and bright settings of each shot made each second even better, and with the usual upbeat sound of the group and some great summer themed outfits it was perfected even more.
With summer just around the corner this seems like a perfect single to release since everyone can start to look forward to the summer months with a cool and upbeat song, so hopefully everyone can get a copy of this single since it seems among the best they have released!
The release date is set for 5/2.
