A preview for Sakura Girl’s song titled You & I LONDON has been released.
As mentioned in the previous post Nagasawa Wakana is in a new idol group, and it seems like they released their 1st song today, available for download on iTunes, and like most songs on iTunes there’s a preview to check out before buying it and for the most part it met my expectations without exceeding them.
The cover alone is a good sign about what to expect, since it does have many things that combine Japan and London, mostly The Beatles and the famous Abbey Road, along with sakura trees lining the street (as well as two traditional Japanese girls having tea). This is probably expected in a way, but I’m kind of surprised they used this famous style for their single cover, along with the sub-title for the song ~Save the children & the Earth~.
The song itself is very simple, but it’s somewhat catchy, even if the preview for the song is only 30 seconds long. It’s great to see that they are going for an English release first since it definitely seems like a good idea to expand globally, but I can’t help but think it would have been a better decision to build up a fan base in Japan first then go in that direction since not many people know about the group, and in the next few months there will be hundreds of other songs about London so it won’t stand out as much.
The next release for the group is their song Kimi to London, which is basically this song in Japanese so it will be interesting to see how it compares. For now I encourage those curious enough to check out the preview on the iTunes page (it should work for most but I’ll see if I can find a preview on Youtube), and while the song is not available on the US, GB, or other iTunes markets (despite being in English) those with a Japanese account can download it for 200 Yen.
Kimi to London will be available on iTunes on 7/11.
